Beware the big bad wooluf

‘It’s The Wooluf’

In the wild days of The Forest Hillbillies we had a kinda punk instrumental called ‘It’s The Wooluf’ – it got faster and cycled thru a few keys at the end which was fun (this clip from a gig in Paris a million years ago). But the Andrews brothers and fellow saxist Colin Humphries, who I assume wrote it, had a political undercurrent with the tune.

Matt Andrews used to announce “this is a song about big things going after little things” (it was a riff on an old cartoon about a cute lamb that outwits a hungry wolf).

Bassist Bill Andrews would scream like a madman into the mic at intervals.

Though that scream ostensibly represented the wolf, really it was flipped with the potential victim screaming defiantly.
